Sorry about this we had intended to only use this site as a news letter diary but the talktalk mail system seems to be having problems and we have not received mail for some 10 -12 days.
We will go into the Galapags later but just to say you have to be here to truely understand the interaction and opportunity you get to be so close the the birds and animals.
9th of March, 7am and we are off on a dingy tour of a cliff face for some 2 hours to see penquins about 1 meter from us and a huge range of sea birds including Blue footed Bobbies sitting on the cliff or diving into the sea all around us then as promised turtles are swimming around the dingy, panga.
Back to the Mary Anne for a session of snorkerling wonderful at one point I swum above a turtle for some 5 minutes and then suddenly an aquatic iguana came up from the depth to join me.
A lovely lunch on deck as we cruise to another island but sadly by now Bob is poorly and in bed, we all take an excursion on to a island to see more wildlife and return to find Bob really unwell, a champagne reception had beeen arranged by him and Hamish as he and Libby were celebrating their 34th Wedding Anniversary, the crew had even decorated the saloon we had a great dinner and a huge birthday cake and Bob missed the lot!
At 9.30 we all rushed into the bridge to watch the satelite navigation dial count down the seconds as we crossed the equator back into the northern hemisphere a party followed on the back deck and we were given a lesson on the stars they were the clearest I have ever seen and the milky way and southern cross showed up clearly. Large fish tuna were swimming along side the boat it was great just such a pity Bob was not there. We all then fell into bed as it would be another 6.30 start in the morning no sleeping around on this boat.
As for Bob he was really unwell for the rest of the trip only making it back for the last afternoon and dinner.
Photos and a proper account of the Galapagos to follow much love to everyone and thanks for all the cards Bob is now back to old self and we are off to explore Quito today only a couple of days left can't believe it, but will be so pleased to see Rosie and George hope they remember us xxxx
